Do You Have a Posting Strategy?

post by Stephanie Nelson

Working in social media, I'm asked almost daily: “What should I post?” or “How often should I post?”

In all honesty, the best answer I can give with no other information is, “Post what matters to you and your audience when they’re going to be online to read it.”  (And yes, every time I say it, it still sounds like a cop-out answer, even to me.)  But...

When you’re…

Super Secret Lists

Organization plays a huge role in life management. A key element in organization is lists. Yeah, I know. Lists seem boring and no fun. I’m with ya. There are to-do lists, lists of goals, grocery lists, wish lists. But, here’s a list that I do love – Twitter lists! I wouldn’t ever touch Twitter if I didn’t have my lists. It’s the only way I can navigate the Twitter jungle.

Twitter lists allow you to group people you follow together. Say you have your core group of college buds…

Has Twitter Lost its Effectiveness?

Personally, I loved the comment today by Becca at the Social Media Breakfast.  She mentioned that she felt that Twitter is not what it used to be.  She felt it has lost a lot of its effectiveness.  She then caught me cheering in the back of the room and pointed me out.  <smile>

After that, there were groans.  There were also some people complaining on Twitter.

What do you think?  Twitter is obviously not dead.  But has it lost its effectiveness?

Love the newly designed site!

It's been about a year and a half since I did a little mini-rant on how we needed to resurrect this site.  I'm so glad it got a face-lift.

Congrats to all that worked so hard on it.  Who else thinks it looks pretty good?

Twitter ROI

I was so inspired by the last Social Media breakfast I went out and bought a book called Social Media Metrics by Jim Sterne. It's an eye opener for anybody looking to go beyond the number of followers or friends you have and really find out how to measure they social media efforts.

I'm reading it right now to help determine how to measure success of some upcoming Twitter campaigns I'm launching for my company.

First impressions and the Empire Avenue/#CLT market correlation

I first read about Empire Avenue when Shel Isreal of Good Neighborhoods wrote about it, apologizing for encouraging his readership to participate in the new 'social media stock market' game.

"I ... thought the game would develop. A marketplace of social capital would include, short sellers indicating betrayals between friends and colleagues; authentic and corrupt…
