New Look

Social Media Charlotte has seen some nice growth over our first few months, near 200 members with more joining every week. With WordCamp, BarCamp, and Twestival all showing the life of our growing SM community, even more work will begin to go into the site. A few of the changes that are under foot as well as some SMC news:

New site design
We just freshened up the look of the design itself. A few more changes changes to the look may be on their way, but things definitely already look better. A big thanks to @willhardison for help with the new look.

Flickr feed
We plan to start filtering photos form flickr that are tagged with "smclt". Still working on this but hope to have it up soon.

New site name
SocialMediaCharlotte.com will soon be the default name of the site. We will be upgrading the domain name and a few other features on the site. This will saddle us with a monthly cost to Ning.com. To cover this we are recruiting sponsors for the site. For $20 a month (6 months) or $15 a month (12 months) your logo can be included above the google ads in our right sidebar, as well as in our email communications/announcements. • Local @RichTucker attends the Shorty Awards after winning the Travel category
• PRSA Charlotte is hosting social media speaker, @skydiver - Peter Shankman of helpareporter.com 
• Charlotte Twestival raises over $3,000 at an event that was kick ass in many ways
• Soon, SMC will have its own Social Media Breakfast series to claim fame to. The first of these events are currently being planning by @ScottHepburn - more info to follow, but mainly SMB is a 201 level discussion/speaker series that began in Boston originally.
