Yes I agree, the logo looks sad. Poor little guy. But hopefully we'll be getting back into coworking in the Fall. As I've said before, it's not dead - just on break for a while.

For sure... great work and freelance group spirit. This can certainly be picked up later! You have successfully introduced several freelancers and property owners to a 'new' concept, as we all appreciate what you have done. This ain't over yet!

Dear Community,

After almost a year of planning and organizing we have decided to take a break from Collective Giant. As some of you know, we felt really strong about the latest venue, the NC Music Factory, but after a breakdown of all costs and expenses, it seems like we just can't move forward at this time.

The intent of Collective Giant was to build a community that shared office space and ideas. After hours, I wanted to host workshops, meetups, and hopefully start some other programs in which to bring the creative community together.

I have met a lot of people who are interested in the concept and believe that it has its place here in Charlotte, but I just don't see the economy allowing it at this time. Truth be told, everyone is feeling the pain of the economy right now. I don't want to open the doors of a community-driven venture and see it fail due to lack of funding. It would be better to wait when the community is strong enough to support a facility like this. I want it to thrive, and if that means taking a break then that's what we will do.

Nathan and I are not giving up on the idea of coworking. In fact, we plan to revisit this idea later this year when - according to some reports - the economy will start to pull out of the recession. So the idea is not dead, but simply put on hold.

In the meantime, I see this as a great opportunity to build Freelance Giant. We can still host events at coffee shops and continue to build a strong creative community without the burden of membership fees and overhead costs. Freelance Giant was always intended to be a program of Collective Giant, so perhaps this is how it should be.

I appreciate all of your feedback and support. I know Charlotte has a great creative community and I want to assure you that a coworking space will open one day and we can all be a part of that.
